Seychelles, A tropical Island Paradise

Seychelles is world renowned for its idyllic countless tropical islands, beautiful boulder-strewn beaches, thriving coral reefs, virgin jungle and its seabird colonies. It comprises over 115 islands scattered all over. The Seychelles lie east of Kenya, near the equator. The Seychelles beaches compete with the best in the world. Many of the islands and atolls are contained within marine sanctuaries .On land visitors can hike mountain trails, bask the ravishing beaches, rock climb, diving, snorkelling, surfing and sailing are all world class and the Seychelles boast some of the richest grounds in the world.

Vallee de mai nature reserve on Praslin Island is a famous park. This park is declared as UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. The flora and fauna of this nature reserve draws thousands of visitors to this place. This is the only place in the world where you will find the rare coco de mer palm. This palm produces the largest nut in the world. The island features truly exquisite beaches such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette; both are the top ten beaches in the world. It provides a base for excursion to nearby islands.

La Digue is also known as Felicite island where time stands still and immemorial traditions like travel by ox cart and bicycle are still king. It is a fourth largest island in Seychelles. The picturesque islands around are the ideal for excursions to snorkelling and diving. It is a quiet place with lust tropical nature where one can relax and enjoy themselves. It is also known as the place for secret sex.

Anse Intendance is one of Mahe’s beautiful beaches. Mahe is the largest island with a backdrop of huge granite peaks. One can enjoy a day excursions to nearby islands and all other islands in Seychelles. It is blessed with white sand beaches and mountainous interior. This crescent sand island’s towards south coast is a favourite surfing spot because of its big swells and wild waves. The lack of protective reef makes swimming a little rough when trade winds blows from the southeast, but sunbathers, beachcombers and photographers will enjoy this picturesque, palm framed strand at any time of the year. Turtles nest along the powdery shores here.



If you are looking for an exciting nightlife in Seychelles, Mahe Island is the best place to be. Although there are night clubs, discotheques and casinos at Praslin Island and Beau Vallon Bay they are not as popular as the one in Mahe. Most of the well-known hotels are situated on this island as well. These hotels have night clubs, disco, bars and casinos.

Cousin Island is a designated nature reserve where one can catch the glimpse of the tatre Seychelles, warbler birds plus sea birds, lizards and hawksbill turtles at sea. Residents include the Seychelles magpie robin; the Seychelles brush warbler, turtledove and the Wedge tailed shear water.

The largest national park in the Seychelles is MORNE SEYCHELLOIS NATIONAL PARK. Hiking trails ascend into the park from the village of Danzil, passing through the plantation and offering spectacular views of the southwest coast of Mahe from the mountain slopes. While walking west through the park, hikers will reach the bnaie ternay and port launay marine parks.

ALDABRA IS THE WORLD LARGEST raised coral atoll. Tiger sharks and mantra rays often prowl the shallows and atoll is a home to thousands of birds. In addition to its rich avian life Aldabra is the habitat of 200000 giant lands tortoises, Five times as many as the Galapagos.

Seafood and steamed rice is the staple diet of Seychellois and the national favourite is grilled octopus with chillies, ginger and garlic, one can dine on mouth-watering Creole cuisine.
