Byron
Bay is a small coastal town of 30,000 residents on the northeastern tip
of New South Wales, Australia. Byron Bay is a favorite travel
destination, because it is unique. The city and its residents are
extremely laid back and the heart of the city captures the soul of the

Water Sports
One can find plenty of water sports in this community, from diving to surfing. Sundive Byron Bay PTY LTD is the only 5-star PADI diving company in the area. Non- experienced divers are welcome at Sundive. Courses offered include an introductory class, open water course, advanced and a divemaster courses. Snorkeling and diving tours are available daily, with excursions to picture perfect spots at the Julian Rocks. Divers and snorkelers will have the opportunity to see marine animals and sea life such as leopard sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, exotic fish, as well as the endangered grey nurse shark.
Nature
Fun activities for nature lovers abound in the area including the Australia Zoo, Byron Bay Mountain Bike Tours and Byron Bay Adventure Tours. The nature tour that gets all the stars and good reviews is the really cool Vision Walks-Eco Tours, a perfect tour for all the night owls.
Vision Walks offers a tour called the Nightcap Night Vision Walk which entails the use of night vision goggles, so hikers may observe nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitats. The tour lasts about 3.5 hours, with hikers having the opportunity to see a variety of animals, including pademelon, opossum, bandicoot, a variety of frogs and the occasional koala.
If hiking through the rainforest at night does not sound like an exciting evening, Vision Walks offers several full day and half day tours as well.

The Byron Shire Weekend Markets celebrate the areas hippie culture with over 300 stalls of arts and crafts, as well as fantastic food and live music. If having a market once a year isn't enough, then attend the local Artisan Market at Railway Park or the Nimbin Arts and Craft Recyclers market, open every Saturday. Other festivals include the Big Scrub Rainforest Day, the Byron Bay Writers Festival and the Byron Bay International Film Festival.

One can find art galleries and metal handy-crafts as well as theatre arts and creative tattoo art in town. To give visitors an idea of art in the area, the Byron Arts and Industry Focus-Artists Trail was created. The trail consists of many galleries and studios, restaurants and coffee shops where you will see artworks of glass, paint, jewelry and fashion design.
